Take This Waltz
To me Take This Waltz is about decisions; it is about the allure of the new compared to the comfort and security of the old, how the decision we make affect the people around us, and how they can change us. There is no easy resolution in this film, choices made cannot be unmade, things said cannot be unsaid and contrary to what rom-coms tell us not all mistakes can be unmade. By the end of the film the poles have shifted, the new has become familiar and the old becomes new once more. Margot seems destined to be caught between the two forever, pulled and pushed as she waltzes around them.
